Whiskey Girl Reviews
‘And that was how I found myself fallin’ for Augusta Belle again. Slow and steady, one beat at a time, mostly to the sound of my music.’
This was our first experience reading an Adriane Leigh book and what a perfect place to start. Whiskey Girl was a raw, gritty, emotion-based, somewhat sombre second chance romance threaded with a country music theme about first-time love, second chances, regrets, heartbreak and a love that never ceased to burn despite everything that stood in its way. ...more
I wasn't sure what to expect from this one and I went in with a very open mind. I found out very quickly that Fallon was a very deep rooted character with so many unanswered questions. The minute he spots Augusta Bella in the dive bar you feel his pain pouring off his skin. I wanted to hate her from the beginning, but I have a feeling that something outside of their control forced their separation. I tend to have a hard time with flashbacks, but for their story to be fully understood it was crit ...more
Whiskey Girl is a really great read. Fallon and Augusta have a crazy past. They loved each other then Augusta left without a word to Fallon. Augusta is back and has found Fallon. Fallon is not very happy to see her at first. I kind of felt Fallon was really harsh to Augusta when she came back. She is strong and persistent and even though Fallon is jerky she doesn't back down. This one is a slow burn read that had me hooked from the beginning. Chapter after chapter we get more info on what happen ...more
Fallon Gentry is a country singer, a Nashville star who's turned his back on everything to play in honky tonk bars and drink whisky, waiting and hoping to once again see Augusta Belle Branson. Augusta is the girl who ensnared his heart from when she was in her teens but then she leaves him, lost and alone.
The story goes between two time frames, the present and the past, which fills in the missing history between the two lead characters. Both are given the opportunity to share their points of vie ...more
Fallon Gentry came from the wrong side of the tracks...well, that was according to Augusta’s Branson’s parents. No amount of money in bank accounts, nor the age gap could keep these two apart.
This well-written, second-chance romance had a nice, slow burn that kept me turning the pages. I loved the back and forth between past and present - it added to the anticipation. The whats, hows, whys, and whens are answered in bits and pieces along the way. Some parts gripped my heart, and some made it flu ...more
Oh my goodness. I'm not really sure where to begin with my review. I guess I should say this is the first book I've read in WEEKS. I've been in a serious slump but this book pulled me right out and I finished it. I read it from cover to cover and my heart now currently resides with Fallon & Augusta Belle.
Whiskey Girl is a beautiful, second chance romance. It's sweet and sexy and angsty and just breathtaking. I absolutely LOVED the way Whiskey Girl was written. The back and forth meshed perf ...more
I'm not sure if this was like a book of a previous character in another book, but I felt so lost in this book.
The writing was fine, the characters were fine, but I felt like I was missing an essential piece of information.
Augusta had been out of Fallon's life for 10 years but when she reappeared he did not put up much of a fuss and let her back in.
The story consisted of them traveling and her giving him bits and pieces of information until he finally knew the whole truth.
And then it ended all ...more

She was the one thing holding him together. Until she was gone.
And then there was whiskey.
